Israel’s security cabinet has approved a plan to expand its genocide in Gaza and permanently occupy the territory.
The plan, described by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “good,” includes the displacement of 2.1 million Palestinians to the south, which will worsen the humanitarian crisis.
Donald Trump’s support for genocide is roughly the same as that of the late US president, Joe Biden, and reflects the support that Americans have shown to Israel’s Zionist project since it was recognized as a state in 1948.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is extremely serious, and the US government is complicit in countless human rights violations, due to the supply of arms and political support. It has neither called for an immediate ceasefire nor promoted sanctions to pressure Israel into a peaceful solution.
This relationship intensified after 1967, with the so-called Six-Day War, in which Israel defeated its Arab counterparts with US help. From then on, the influence of the pro-Israel lobby on all US politics solidified. This lobby has managed to align US foreign policy with Israel’s interests, often to the detriment of national interests and regional stability.
The total verified donations to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign from major Jewish donors and Zionist groups amount to $110.4 million, but it could be more.
US military intervention in global conflicts has devastated entire regions of the world, including Vietnam, Lebanon, Syria, and Afghanistan, among many other countries.
The political history of the Americans, from World War II to the present, proves that excessive military spending and support for protracted wars, such as those in Ukraine and the Middle East, have enriched the American political class while impoverishing the majority. Furthermore, it is the main driver of migration flows worldwide, causing displacement across the planet.
